FAMILIES are being asked to nominate their favourite family movie to be shown at an open air cinema evening at Thoulstone Park later next weekend.
The Midnight Feast & Big Picnic is a two-day family event at the park on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th June. Organisers are encouraging camping to make the most of the mini-festival experience.
The outdoor cinema will take place on the Friday and will be followed by a free Big Picnic on Saturday. There will also be children’s activities ranging from bush crafting, foraging and parachute games, to storytelling, inflatable bouncing, magic and talent shows.
“This is something a little bit different and we’re hoping families will enjoy the special line-up we’ve put together” said Alex Lepingwell, the event’s co-organiser. “We’re crossing our fingers for a combination of a balmy evening, a classic film and good camping.
“The big question is, will it be Bugsy Malone, Back to the Future, or another family favourite that tops the people’s vote?”
People can visit Thoulstone Park’s Facebook page to vote for the classic family film they would most like to watch on the Friday night.
The most popular choice will officially open the festival, with families encouraged to camp under the stars in the parkland that night. Breakfast will then be served for campers the following morning, before Saturday’s Big Picnic gets underway.
Saturday’s children’s entertainment will be hosted by Somerset-based charity Children’s World, providers of the popular Glastonbury Children’s Festival. Profits from the day will all go towards international children’s projects.
Anyone wishing to camp at The Midnight Feast & Big Picnic can do so with their own tent or camper van. Pre-pitched yurts and domes are also available to hire.
