Westbury town councillors have agreed to write to Wiltshire Council to request that extra resources be put into parking enforcement in the town.
This comes following an announcement by Warminster Town Council last month that said that Warminster would be patrolled daily by a parking enforcement officers, and that even the quietest area of the town will receive visits. Parking enforcement is the responsibility of Wiltshire Council.
At a meeting of the highways, planning, and development committee of the town council on Monday 17th April, councillors agreed to send a letter to Wiltshire Council to ask for them to confirm whether Warminster is receiving daily parking enforcement and if so, if Westbury could be considered for the same scheme.
Speaking at the meeting, cllr Mike Sutton said, “We have previously asked Wiltshire Council whether we could have some sort of parking enforcement in the high street and around the town that we would be willing to pay for, but they have said that they do not have anyone available due to staff shortages, and they cannot help.
“However, Warminster Town Council announced last month that Wiltshire Council will be carrying out daily parking enforcement throughout Warminster, so I think we should write to Wiltshire Council to ask for the same treatment.”
