Patients urged to cancel unwanted appointments

WESTBURY Group Practice is appealing for local people to cancel their appointments when they are unable to attend, to avoid wasting staff time.

During August, September and October combined 222 people did not attend their appointment with a GPs, and 463 people did not attend their appointment with a nurse. This equates to approximately 37 hours of wasted GP surgery time, and 77 hours of wasted nurse time.

Practice manager at the White Horse Health Centre, Mark Dickson said, “Missed appointments are a waste of valuable resources. When so many are trying to book appointments and our staff are trying their very best to accommodate all our patients requiring an appointment, it is disappointing to see the continued level of missed appointments.”

Patients who cannot attend an appointment should let the surgery know so that the time slot can be made available to other patients.
