AGE UK is calling for people in Westbury to donate unwanted quality items to Age International’s stock appeal which runs until 13th April.
Unwanted clothes, shoes, CDs, DVDs, books, toys and household items can be donated to your local Age UK shop (25 High Street, Westbury) and the UK government will match the value of your donations pound for pound so that Age UK can help older people in developing countries.
Sarah White, manager of Age UK in Westbury said, “We’d really like more donations for this great cause which will help so many people across Africa.”
With the funds raised from this appeal, Age International is hoping to improve healthcare for 400,000 older people in Ethiopia, Mozambique, Tanzania and Zimbabwe through health projects, including the treatment of cataracts in older people, which can lead to blindness. These operations cost around £20, equivalent to a couple of bags of donated items.
