LAST year, Westbury Town Council asked residents for ideas to convert the old telephone box in the Market Place. Now, the telephone box has been adoped by the town and repair work has started.
Westbury Town Council adopted the town’s K6 red kiosk phone box in February this year and the council’s TIG/Tourism working group are reviewing the best way to make use of the phone box and its repainting.
At the recent highways, planning and development meeting, on Monday 16th April, there was a recommendation from the group to spend £149.33 to repair broken glass and refresh the paintwork on the phone box.
As the phone box is listed, councillors were advised to use the recommended supplier for paint supplies/spare parts. In recent weeks, one of the glass panes has been broken and now needs replacing.
The committee agreed to give the money for the repairs, and plans will be discussed about the future usage of the phone box.
