A LOCAL man is calling on people to care more about the environment after he spent hours collecting rubbish from the side of the road.
Kevin Peters filled his trailer with bags full of rubbish that had been left by the side of the roads around Old Dilton where he lives.
Kevin said, “I have always been annoyed at the amount of rubbish that is scattered along our roadsides and recently it has become a lot worse. Mostly the rubbish is plastic bottles and drink cans which are tossed out of car windows by selfish people who do not care about their environment. Also, we get a lot of fly tipping along our lanes. It’s hard to understand, as the recycling centre is only two miles down the road in Warminster.
“Although picking up rubbish seems a bit of a dirty job, it is actually quite good exercise and very satisfying when you see a rubbish-free lane. Even if it is only for a short while!”
