HAWKERIDGE Park play area remains closed due to safety issues and cleaning requirements, but Heywood Parish Council has confirmed that the park will re-open as soon as possible.
Local people had taken to social media to complain that the play area had been closed for several weeks, saying they believed the wait was for Wiltshire Council to carry out safety checks.
Richard Culverhouse, clerk of Heywood Parish Council said last week, “The chairman and I had a site meeting with representatives of Wiltshire Council (who are responsible for the playground) at the beginning of last week. I had a follow up telephone call this afternoon.
“There are areas of some concern for safety and also areas that need cleaning, not to mention damage to a rubbish bin. Whilst it is regrettable we cannot let the park be used until the damage is rectified, we appreciate the park has been well used when it has been open and we are endeavouring to move as quickly as we can.”
