WESTBURY Swimming Pool re-opened on Monday, 14th January, after a short delay in finishing refurbishment works.
The pool has been closed since November for a period of work, which includes the replacement of boilers, a new hot and cold water plant, air handling plant and associated ductwork, as well as the relocation of the chlorine tank.
James Dennison, general manager, explains that although much of the work has been out of sight, users will notice some differences. “We’ve not made a massive thing about re-opening as it has been more behind-the-scenes work. But it is going to make a difference; the showers will be more consistent [in temperature], the air handling plant means air temperature will be more consistent and less humid, and the pool lining has been re-done which will be obvious to users.”
The pool will celebrate the re-opening with free taster swimming lessons for users on Saturday 26th January, while it is also running special offers on swimming lessons and birthday parties booked in January. You can find more information, as well as opening hours for the pool, at www.dcleisurecentre. co.uk/centres/westbury-swimming-pool or by phoning 01373 822 891.
As reported in the White Horse News (Issue 530 Thursday 3rd 2013) the pool was due to re-open on Monday 7th January. The opening was delayed by a week.
