MEMBERS of West End Baptist Church have been taking to the streets of Westbury to meet the public and spread the word.
Minister of the church, Ian McManus said, “We at West End Baptist Church believe that prayer can change things. That is why, every two weeks on Saturday mornings from 10am, you will see Mike and Alison (and sometimes a few others) in town ready to pray with you. They are always outside the Heritage Centre as you walk down from Morrisons and make your way onto the High Street.
“You can speak to them about anything that is concerning you. It may be a loved one who is ill or struggling with a problem. Perhaps something good has happened in your life and you want to say “Thank You” to God about it. The team is there ready to pray with you about anything.
“Not only does Mike spend time praying on the streets on Saturdays, but he also likes to sit on the bench outside the library. He has with him the smaller sign that says, “Prayer Park”. The reason it is called a “park” is because a park is usually somewhere quiet and a place of rest. If you see him there, and you really need someone to talk to, Mike’s your man.
“Why are we doing this? We at West End Baptist Church wanted to take church outside the four walls of our building and bring it onto the streets. We want to share the good news that we have with everyone. So, next time you’re walking through town on a Saturday morning stop, have a chat and see what happens.”
