Police are investigating vandalism at the public toilets on Warminster Road just three days after they reopened.
The newly refurbished public toilets were officially opened by Westbury Town Council on Tuesday 14th July. The council was then forced to temporarily close the facilities on 17th July after they were deliberately damaged, with the toilet seat and wall-mounted basin scratched by a sharp object and human excrement smeared on the walls.
CCTV footage from the site has been handed to Wiltshire Police to investigate.
“This behaviour is completely unacceptable,” said a spokesperson from the council. “These facilities have been provided for the benefit of the whole community, and acts of vandalism not only cause unnecessary expense but also inconvenience other users.
“We ask everyone to respect these public facilities and help us keep them clean, safe and accessible for all. If you witness any vandalism or anti-social behaviour, please report it to the appropriate authorities.”
The toilets have now reopened following a thorough clean.
