A QUIZ night in Westbury will raise funds for an African community devastated by wildfires.
The success of a previous online quiz night has inspired the White Horse Team Ministry organisers to hold another one, at 7.30pm sharp on Saturday 27th March.
The event will collect monies for the Sudan Appeal and specifically for Maridi, the team’s Deanery link Diocese, where they are in desperate need of food and support following the wildfires which swept through the district, leaving many destitute.
The quiz night will be a team event, with rounds of questions from across the team, and it is hoped many people will join.
In its latest newsletter the White Horse Team says, “The news from the Sudans this week concerns South Sudan and especially Maridi, the area that our Deanery supports.
“Wildfires have ravaged 5 villages and seen the destruction of both homes and village granary stores. Over 300 huts are now wrecks and not fit for use. The people have no access to food so are starving and homeless.
“Bishop Moses has emailed us and asked for urgent help towards a food fund that is desperately needed immediately.
“For anyone interested there are horrific pictures available of the affected areas.
“As a Deanery we usually send money for the Chaima Institute. The Sudan Committee for the Deanery are supporting the food appeal and are hoping to send something out at the end of this week.”
