BROTHERS Jay and Sean Able have been selected to take part in the British Talent Cup at Silverstone this month. If they go through to the next stage, the brothers will be on their way to fulfilling their dreams of competing in the Moto GP.
Jay, aged 13, and Sean, 11, have been racing since a young age, supported by their father Mark. The British Talent Cup is a mini-series that looks to bring young British talent through the rankings into professional racing. Jay was selected last year, narrowly missing out in the final stages. However, this year both the brothers will get the opportunity to ride around Britain’s iconic racetrack, Silverstone.
A shortlist of 65 young riders was selected in July to take part on Wednesday 22nd August, with those successful applicants carrying on to the ‘Day of Champions’ on Thursday 23rd.
All riders will be on a Honda CBR250R under the surveillance of experts who will be searching for the next British MotoGP rider.
Sean said, “I’m very excited, but a bit nervous.” Jay said, “Last year I took a while to get used to the new bike and was slow in my first session. This year, I’m going to go for it as fast as I can!”
Their father, Mark said, “I’m very excited that both get the chance this year to compete at the British Talent Cup and have made it to the selection process. I hope that one, if not both, get through. Jay was so close last time, so he will need to make that extra step for a chance this time around.
“It’s going to be a great experience for Sean who is likely to be the youngest one there, only just making the age cut-off date. None of this could have been done without the continued support of our sponsors at ABLE racing including: Phoenix Motorcycles, Smith’s Budgens of Codford, Energy Management, SP Engineering, Hire Standards, T.Deacon Fencing, Smith’s Engine Services, Jazz Tyres, Wiltshire Auto Refiners, Rock Oil and Wiltshire Caravans.
“If any businesses are willing to support the team and become a sponsor, we would be more than happy to welcome you on board. For more information about getting involved you can contact me on 07974 185861.”
