Message from Wiltshire Police
We’re renewing our appeal for witnesses after a number of vehicles were stolen from premises on the West Wilts Trading Estate, Westbury on Saturday 9 May.
At approximately 5pm, a large white van was seen to stop at the junction of Broadway North and Engineer Road on the West Wilts Trading Estate and a number of people disembarked. Soon after that unknown offenders managed to get into a building on Headquarter Road where a number of vehicle keys were taken. These were then used to steal nine vehicles from that location.
Four people were arrested on suspicion of burglary later that day at an address in Melksham and have now been released on conditional bail.
Det Sgt Neil Le-Maire said: “We would like to speak to anyone who may have heard or seen anything suspicious in that area on that day.
“Even though the surrounding area would have been reasonably quiet at that time of the afternoon, someone may have seen something or captured something on their car dash cam which they did not realise was significant at the time.
“I would urge anyone who has information which could assist with our investigation to come forward and speak to us.
“Anything like this will understandably be concerning for the local community. However, I want to reassure you that these types of incidents are rare and we will be putting on increased patrols in the area as a precautionary measure.
“Wiltshire Police is taking this incident very seriously and has already carried out swift enquiries in an attempt to find the people responsible.
“Anyone who witnessed anything suspicious or has any information in relation to those involved, should call 101 and quote crime reference number 54200043759. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
