A leading saxophonist is bringing her trio to Edington for a night of jazz-influenced music.
Jess Gillam will perform alongside bassist Sam Becker and pianist Zeynep Özsuca on Saturday 20th June at Edington Priory Church at 7.30pm.
“The trio will give us a programme of lesser-known repertoire, with some fresh takes on firm favourites from Corelli to Gershwin, from the jazz influences of Sidney Bechet, Barbara Thompson and Rudy Wiedöft to shades of folk,” said a spokesperson from Edington Arts, which is organising the event. “Truly a programme for everyone and a rare and fantastic opportunity to hear one of the musical greats of her generation.”
Jess was the first saxophonist to reach the finals of the BBC Young Musician competition in 2016. She has since won a Classic BRIT Award and both her albums have reached number one in the UK Classical Music Charts. She also has a weekly BBC Radio 3 show and has presented on BBC Radio 2, co-hosted a mini-series on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme and appeared at the BBC Proms and BBC Young Musician of the Year.
Tickets cost between £11 and £25 and are free for anyone aged 18 and under and those in full-time education. They are available from www.edingtonarts.org/whats-on
