THE Bratton Primary School Scarecrow Trail will return to the village on Saturday 29th to Sunday 30th June following the popularity of last year’s event.
Hundreds of local people enjoyed the trail last year which raised money to support the children at the school. The main theme this year is ‘pairs’ and the school is asking people to think of famous duos.
A spokesperson for the school said, “The main family-themed scarecrow trail will be ‘pairs’ which will comprise of famous duos. We are also organising a more simplified children’s trail for the little ones, ‘out of the ark’, which also fits with the theme of ‘pairs’.
“The children’s trail will be pairs of animals hand-drawn by students. We have some lovely, talented student artists, and we can’t wait to witness their personal drawings of animals sited around the village to locate!
“We are all excited that this will make a fantastic event for local families to enjoy, and it’s a great opportunity to boost fundraising for the school. Plus, it will be so lovely to see creativity from families, school students and local residents dotted about Bratton village for all to enjoy!
“Every scarecrow creation is a joy to witness, and raises smiles from all. This year’s event has had a few tweaks from last year to make it even better, it really will be fun, and we encourage families, members of the village and locals to pop the date in their diaries. Do come along and see all the wonderful creativity on display across the beautiful village.
“Both trails will consist of a shorter circular route, using the two village crossing points to make it easier for all. The scarecrows will be situated on the route in closer proximity to each other, and in general, this will create a real visual impact within the village setting. The village will look like a pop-up art installation over the scarecrow trail weekend!
“Prizes will be cash prizes this year, thanks to our wonderful company sponsor MJ Building. Scarecrow trail sheet winners’ prize will be £100 for first place, £50 for second place and £25 for third place. Children’s trail prizes will be £25 for first place, £15 for second place and £10 for third place.
“The best scarecrow creator will win £50 to celebrate their creative efforts, based on votes from members of the public.
“We wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who has very kindly volunteered to make a scarecrow. Students, staff, volunteers, members of the community and even groups/organisations from within the village are designing and creating a scarecrow.
“Let the creativity and excitement begin! Please view the Bratton Primary School Facebook page to keep updated on developments, and advertising posters will appear across the area shortly!
“More details will follow as project scarecrow develops over the months ahead.”
