Westbury travelled to play Rockhampton in the latest Wiltshire and Gloucestershire League Division One match on Saturday 26th July hoping to put behind their recent defeats and trying to catch the teams above them.
Westbury made two changes from the defeat against Lechlade two weeks ago, (last weeks game against Tewkesbury being rained off), with Alex Senneck and Richard Mills coming in for Ben Whiting and Aiden Wicks.
Rockhampton won the toss and decided to bat first. Westbury made an early breakthrough when Will Tyler was dismissed by Andy Carroll with the total at 14. Belbin was then joined by Brothwood and they took the total to 31 when Belbin was dismissed by Rose for 29.
Matt Tyler then joined Brothwood and they took the total to 154 when Tyler was out for 45. Brothwood with the help of the lower order took the total to 262 for 7 wickets off their allotted 50 overs. At the end of the innings Brothwood was unbeaten on 108 off 127 balls. Martin Dolman (3 – 40 off 6 overs) had the best figures.
When Westbury batted they immediately attacked the Rockhampton bowling with Rose 42 leading the way. When the 6th wicket fell at 109 Senneck (48) and Prinsloo (30) fought hard to take Westbury to an unlikely win. When Senneck was out at 184 for 48, the Westbury innings quickly subsided to 194 all out.
