One hundred and forty runners signed up for the White Horse Gallop Trail Run, which this year had to be shortened to just over seven miles, due to waterlogged ground at Leighton Recreation Centre.
Race organiser, Darren Wrintmore said, “The recent rain also made the running underfoot even more challenging than normal, though this did not deter John Reed of Warminster Running Club from claiming victory in a time just under 49-minutes, ahead of Flash Gordon from Warminster and third placed Ash Tuck from Bitton Road Runners.
“In the ladies’ race Veryan Cranston of Avon Valley Runners took victory ahead of Samantha Kelly from Royal Wootton Bassett Hounds and third placed Justina Burles of Warminster Running Club.
“Age category awards went to: MV40 – Jason Longhorn of Mile High; FV40 – Sarah Tilling of Swindon Striders; MV50 – Barry Awan of Team Bath; FV50 – Nikki Guiver of Yeovil Town Road Runners; MV60 – Simon Rowbottom of Yeovil Town Road Runners; FV60 – Mary Derrick from Chippenham.”
