MEMBERS of Westbury Rotary and Avon Valley Runners will be hoping for a dry day on Sunday 6th March as around 150 runners will be slugging it out in the ‘ultimate trail race’, the 33-mile Imber Ultra.
Starting at the foot of Salisbury Plain at Leighton Recreation Centre at 9am, the 33-mile race follows the Imber Range perimeter path. Entries opened in October 2021 and the race is now full, so anyone interested in taking part would need to join the waiting list on the Imber Ultra website found at www.imber-ultra.org/
Members of Westbury Rotary support this event by marshalling and providing welfare stations at strategic checkpoints along the route.
In 2020 the winner was Tom Simmons from Bradford on Avon Canoe Club, who managed an impressive time of 4:34:17, with Emily Dixon from Victoria Park Harriers and Tower Hamlets AC a close second in 4:35:24 (who beat the previous best time of a lady by nearly 20 minutes!) Wyclef Forbes holds the course record of 3:48:07 from 2016.
