Eric Hill was a talented footballer and successful manager who, during his young footballing career, played for Steeple Ashton, Dilton Marsh, Bratton and Edington.
Moving to Willoughby Hedge transport café on the busy A303 in the 1960’s he continued playing for Teffont F.C. and later moved on to play for Mere Town, becoming captain for one season.
Eric was then approached to re-start local team Dinton F.C. in the Salisbury and district league where he enjoyed a very prosperous career. Eric later became player manager at Dinton and his proudest time was playing together with his two sons Steven and Richard, winning many trophies and leagues.
Moving back to Westbury the club then became Ross Hillman F.C., the team once again enjoying much success and finally being renamed Westbury Town where Eric eventually retired after enjoying every moment of his footballing life.
The Hill family would like to say a very sincere thank you to Arthur W May’s funeral services and for all the kind messages, flowers and cards they have received.
