RESIDENTS of Arundell Close have signed a petition calling on Wiltshire Council to review car parking at Bitham Brook Primary School.
Mr and Mrs Ferguson of Arundell Close approached councillor Gordon King over concerns they and other residents have about plans to extend Bitham Brook Primary School which could see a further 120 pupils attend the school over the next 10 years.
Some residents have claimed that property has been damaged by inappropriate parking and others have complained about being spoken to rudely.
Cllr Gordon King said, “I’m sure that a solution can be found provided the school, parents, the council and residents are able to work together. For the school that means getting out, dusting down and using its ‘travel plan’ positively to influence behaviour and provoke change and maybe extending its car park.
“I would encourage all parents whose circumstance means that they drive their children to school to do so thoughtfully and quickly. I will be encouraging the council to advance any plans for a new school in East Westbury and in the interim to agree a limited waiting scheme to keep the access to numbers 16 and 18 Arundel Close open.
“I would like to thank residents for bringing this issue to my attention and encourage them to engage positively without forgetting their objectives which are just.”
