A PUPIL and a teacher at Westbury Junior School have both been recognised at Wiltshire Cricket’s Chance To Shine awards.
Miss Croker was awarded teacher of the term and pupil Colby was awarded pupil of the term. Chance To Shine is a charity which provides funding to support schools in areas of need with cricket coaching in challenging areas.
On a term-by-term basis, Wiltshire Cricket are providing these awards to schools as part of a reward and recognition programme to highlight schools, teachers and children who have fully engaged with this free programme.
Speaking about the awards, Wiltshire Cricket says, “Miss Croker really got involved during the lessons, with encouragement to the children who need it. She’s truly embraced the Chance To Shine programme and all that it stands for, both for her as the teacher and for the class as learners.
“Colby has progressed well over the course of the term both as a player of the game in his curriculum lessons, but also in his role as a playground leader. Despite the challenges which he faces, he continues to improve in all areas of his learning week by week.”
Westbury and District Cricket Club commented, “It is great to see cricket thriving in primary schools in Westbury and interest in the sport growing. As a club, we always welcome and encourage new players to join our youth categories.”
