The popular Elizabethan Evening will return to Corsley this summer with a lively outdoor performance of The Merry Wives of Windsor, promising an evening of laughter, mischief and timeless Shakespearean fun in the grounds of Manor Farm.
Taking place on Sunday 3 August, this annual community event is once again hosted in the gardens of the historic Elizabethan manor in Corsley, providing an enchanting backdrop for the open-air production.
The performance, by the award-winning theatre company Illyria, brings Shakespeare’s comedy to life with just five accomplished professional actors. Audiences can expect a fast-paced and humorous tale of deception, wit and good-natured revenge — all wrapped up with a joyful ending under the stars.
“The Elizabethan Evening offers guests the chance to enjoy outdoor theatre with friends and family in beautiful surroundings,” said Elizabethan Evening chair, Malcolm Westgate. “It’s fun and memorable, while at the same time raising vital funds for organisations where it’s most needed.”
To date, the Elizabethan Evening has raised around £80,000 for charities and local causes. This year, it is supporting homelessness and youth mental health, together with local food banks.
Tickets are available from www.theelizabethanevening.com. Gates open at 4pm.
The Elizabethan Evening also enjoys the support of numerous local companies. This year’s sponsors are: The George Cadbury Trust, CIL Consulting, Heywood House Café, Reid Wines, Allsop Carpets & Flooring, NFU Mutual, Harris & Harris and EG Martin.
