TICKETS are flying off the shelves as Frome Musical Theatre Company prepares to put on its new year’s pantomime ‘Sleeping Beauty’, which will run at the Memorial Theatre from Tuesday 29th December to Saturday 2nd January.
FMTC, renowned for being one of the most professional pantomime productions in the area, has been hard at work rehearsing for this year’s show. They will be putting their own touch on a classic fairytale retold for hundreds of years.
When a new Princess is born to King Cactus and Queen Marigold the entire kingdom rejoices! As they celebrate Princess Rose’s christening the Good Fairies bestow gifts of the heart on the child. But, the festivities are rudely interrupted by Bad Witch Hazel, who says she has not received an invitation to the blessing.
In her rage she proceeds to cast an evil curse on the child whereby on her 16th birthday she will prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and die!
FMTC’s pantomime follows Princess Rose as she grows up in the palace under the careful watch of the Good Fairy Lilac and the King’s newly appointed PANTIES (Point And Needle Tip Inspection Experts!) who protect her. Will the spell ever be broken? You’ll have to come along to find out!
As always the show will be packed full of slapstick humour, vibrant costumes and popular music, this year it includes numbers from Queen, Christina Perry, ‘Matilda the Musical’ and Disney’s ‘Frozen’.
‘Sleeping Beauty’ follows the recent success of ‘Peter Pan’, ‘Hairspray’ and ‘Robin Hood’ performed by the company earlier in the year.
Tickets are on sale from the Memorial Theatre Box office open 9.30am -1pm Monday to Saturday on 01373 462795 or by booking online at www.fromememorialtheatre.org.uk
