The October meeting was held at the Lopes Arms when the guest speaker was Trish Judge from SPLITZ.
President Jean opened the meeting by thanking Trish who had given a very interesting talk of the support work done by SPLITZ to aid families affected by abusive behaviour. The charity is entirely voluntarily funded, so any donations, however small, are much needed.
Jean also reported on the success of the Family Fun Day held at Leigh Park Community Hall when the stalls held by the club raised £160 for Inner Wheel Charities.
A team of six IW members, calling themselves ‘The Optimists’, took part in the Rotary Town Quiz on Friday 3rd October.
Members were requested to have the usual Christmas Boxes filled to enable the International chairman to get them distributed. This is an on-going commitment of the Inner Wheel Club.
Final arrangements were made for the annual Inter Club Meeting being held late October at The Mill at Rode. Some 80 members and friends from the District will be attending. This is a very good result and members can look forward to a very pleasant afternoon. Susan Lewis, the well known author, will be speaking, and the charity she supports is Breast Cancer Care (BUST). Members will also be outside the Co-op store on Friday 24th October collecting for breast cancer and ask that you please come along and support this very worthy cause.
