The Philomel Singers performed in Westbury Methodist Church on Saturday 19th October to fundraise for the Salisbury District Hospital Stars Appeal, a charity chosen by the church.
Organisers say “Everyone who attended this free concert showed their appreciation of the choir’s varied repertoire, ranging from traditional songs to modern and of one particular piece, “Fly Away”, written by 13 year old Ella Wilcock. Ella’s mature composition impressed the audience and choir alike.
“Performances by the highly talented young organist Anna Hallett and Annabel Bigland, a superb young soprano singer, were equally appreciated and enjoyed and the evening raised £200 for the Stars Appeal.
“The Philomel Singers’ next performance will be on Saturday 14th December at 7.30pm, when they will be performing their Advent Concert in St Mary’s Church in Steeple Ashton, raising funds for both the church and for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
“There will be more details to follow but in the meantime, if you would like any more information, please contact the choir Secretary, Fiona Wood, on 01373 858878 or e-mail philomel@btinternet.com
