A CHARITY day at The Mead Nursery, Brokerswood, on Sunday 20th August, 12noon to 5pm, hosted by Emma and Steve Lewis-Dale, will raise funds for the upkeep of Brokerswood Tin Church.
Steve says, “The Tin Church has a fascinating history. It was originally bought by Southwick village while they built a stone church to replace their original church that had burnt down.
They kindly gave it to Brokerswood when they no longer needed it, and it was transported on a steam lorry in 1904.
Originally meant to have a lifespan of 25 years, the Tin Church is still standing and flourishing after 113 years! Regular services are held in it and it is also used for community events, most recently the Frome Festival.”
On the open day there will be an interesting array of colourful plants, an enticing selection of guest stalls, and a very popular refreshment tent serving hot drinks and homemade cakes.
The Mead Nursery specializes in alpines, perennials and bulbs.
