A thrilling variety of action is coming to the Corsley Show this year on August Bank Holiday, Monday 31st August.
The organisers say, “We are honoured to welcome the British Army to the show who are bringing along weapons and a display of small arms and soldiers’ kit.
“The Garrison Artillery Volunteers (GAV) will stage a historic re-enactment in the main arena. GAV are a volunteer hobby group of historians whose passion is the Royal Regiment of Artillery. The group has three main sub-sections – field artillery, anti-aircraft artillery and a searchlight unit – and undertakes historical displays depicting various aspects of life in the Royal Artillery during the twentieth century.
“Back by popular demand is the Roll Dash & Bash battle when three local teams will roll a car, then all six team members will squash into the vehicle and finally bash it down to a height of 110cm to push under a bar.
“Frome Dog Training Club members will astound us with demonstrations of fast-paced agility, tricks and obedience.
“Mere Down Falconry make a welcome return to the Corsley Show. Allan Gates will put his magnificent birds of prey through their paces and you will have a chance to meet the birds themselves.
“Also in the main arena, we are featuring a Championship Tug o’ War competition when local teams will vie for a first prize of a barrel of beer, kindly donated by Wadworth Brewery.
“Children’s Sports will get the main arena acts off to a vigorous start, followed by a mass Tug o’ War – children versus parents.
“For the first time this year, the Frome Town Archers are visiting the show and in a safe area of the showfield, you will have a chance to discover your inner Robin Hood and try out your dexterity with bow and arrow.
“Gardeners and creative people all around the area are working on their entries for the Horticulture & Crafts marquee, a highlight of the Corsley Show. The standard of excellence on display is sure to be breathtaking.
“The Vintage Vehicle Show is always a crowd-puller and the parade will be held earlier in the afternoon this year and we are hoping for a bumper turn-out. Beer tent, refreshments, dozens of stalls and activities will keep you amused, including the Horse & Pony Show, Dog Show and funfair.
“Visit our website www.corsleyshow.org.uk to find out more about the show and check out the big discounts available to you by ordering tickets online (www.corsleyshow.org.uk) – the earlier the better!
“There will be no bus service from Frome and Warminster to and from the show this year but hopefully this can be reinstated in 2016.”
