THE Dilton Marsh Annual Flower and Handicraft Show committee are reflecting and thinking ahead after the Annual Show was held on the 14th of August.
“A spokesperson for The Flower & Handicraft Show Committee said, “The Dilton Marsh Annual Flower & Handicraft show took place on the 14th of August and although there were sadly less entries this year, the standard was high.
“No doubt many of our gardens suffered from the weather changes and temperature variations, but others soldiered on to present their fruit, vegetables and flowers.
“The handicrafts were well represented and the cookery section was supported with some delightful bakes, but we must say the children’s classes would welcome more support. Having said that, it was a delight to see young Mia win the dahlia class with her stunning flowers and enter other classes. Well done Mia!
“The two entries in the group class were impressive and all seemed to enjoy viewing the entries, having a natter over a cup of tea and bidding for the produce when the doors opened to the public at 2pm.
“We all hear on show day “mine are like that” or “mine are better than that,” so come along and have a go!
“Some 300 schedules were printed and distributed around the village, so we are considering printing more for next year, as well as different classes to reflect the suggestions we’ve received.
“Keep a look out for announcements in the new year. Although some classes will change, you can still make a note of which classes you have an interest in, find out what to do from books, the internet or chatting with family, friends and neighbours. You don’t have to be an expert – have a go – you may find a new interest or hobby whilst doing so.
“Don’t forgot to involve the children! They will be the keenest ones and it really helps their development.
“Thank you to our sponsors, volunteers and everyone who entered and visited. Happy gardening, baking and crafting.”
