A WESTBURY couple Julie Palethorpe and Gordon Hacker finally tied the knot after lockdown regulations scuppered their plans to get married four times.
The newlyweds planned to arrive for their wedding in style and pulled up to the ceremony on Alfred Street, Westbury in two massive Scania truck cabs!
Long-distance lorry driver Gordon Hacker, who has travelled the length and breadth of Europe for the past 30 years, married local lady, mother of eight and grandmother of five, Julia Palethorpe. The couple had a ceremony at Westbury Conservative Club on Friday 29th October arriving in the two huge truck cabs.
Gordon and Julie got engaged in Budapest in August of 2019 on a cruise on the Danube. The couple’s wedding plans were put on hold four times after covid regulations meant they couldn’t have more than 20 friends and family at the ceremony. The rules then changed so they could have up 30 guests (still not enough for these love birds) and then on the fourth time, their venue cancelled on them.
Fifth time lucky, the couple finally managed to get married last month after putting it off for so long. Julia was chauffeured to the wedding by Gordon’s boss Trevor Skuse, and Gordon was in his own cab but driven by Kate, his boss’s wife.
