WESTBURY Townswomens Guild is continuing its celebrations of its 50th anniversary – this time marking the milestone by taking over the maintenance of a flowerbed planter in the High Street.
The group, which was formed in November 1968, have been celebrating their golden anniversary throughout the year with special events and community projects. They took over the High Street planter in early summer, and volunteers have been busy working to brighten it up, with the support of Kevin Bowler from grounds maintenance company idverde.
On behalf of the group, Wendy Bartlett said, “We have been in Westbury for 50 years now and we wanted to do something that would give something back to the community. We approached the town council for ideas – and this was their suggestion.
“We have had positive feedback from members of the public. The plants are coming to the end of the season so we are hoping to start planning the winter bedding with the help of Kevin.”
Westbury Townswomen’s Guild meet at Grassacres Hall on the fourth Thursday of each month at 7.30pm.
