The Westbury United squad for the 25/26 season is starting to take shape at Platinum Hyundai Park with two new players signing this month – Ackeem Stewart and Samuel Francis.
Sam has been on the club’s radar for a while and was one of the top targets during the off season.
“We’re thrilled to have him in the Westbury Green,” said the club. “Sam is an exciting midfielder, that has both physicality and an excellent passing range in his game.
“After winning a scholarship from Nigeria to play football in England, he spent two seasons at Calne and despite interest elsewhere, has chosen to join us. Sam will be a key figure for us, and at 21, there’s plenty more to come from him.”
Sam commented, “It’s an easy decision for me when Westbury came knocking for the coming season; really can’t wait to get started and get things going.”
Ackeem is another player that the club had been tracking throughout last season and despite offers elsewhere, he has committed to The White Horse Men for the 2025/26 season.
“Ackeem is a powerful and athletic forward who has plenty of goals and assists to his name,” said the club. “A former professional in his native Jamaica, he came to England in 2022 and has spent time at Calne and Royal Wotton Basset.”
Ackeem said, “I’m delighted to officially join Westbury United and take this next step in my career. As a player, you always want to play at the highest level possible, and playing in the Southern League is a challenge that I am looking forward to.
“I’m fully focused on making an impact at Westbury United. I’m looking forward to adapting quickly, playing my part in the team’s success and pushing myself to new levels. It’s a big opportunity and I’m ready to give everything I’ve got, on and off the pitch.”
