AN online fundraising page has been set up to support a family whose house caught fire in Dilton Marsh last week.
Seven crews from the Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service were called out to Dilton Marsh to deal with a fire that damaged two homes in the High Street. Everyone from the two homes were accounted for and an investigation is underway as to what caused the fire.
One of the comments on the crowdfunding page reads, “It is lovely to see everyone in my village of Dilton Marsh pulling together to help a family who has lost everything. It shows we all care!”

The Hollies Inn in Westbury Leigh is also collecting for those affected by the fire. On a post on social media they said, “As some already know there has been a large fire in Dilton Marsh affecting different homes and families. We have already been collecting cash on the bar as we know every penny can help.
“If you would like to help with any monetary donations, please feel free to pop in and the staff will be happy to keep it safe. We will ensure the families affected get this directly. We have such kind people around us.”
A spokesperson for the Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said, “We were called to High Street, Dilton Marsh at 5.45pm on Wednesday 14th June for a fire affecting two homes. At the height of the incident, we had crews on scene from Warminster (x2), Westbury, Trowbridge, Devizes (x2) and Frome, together with the aerial ladder platform from Swindon and a support appliance from Hamworthy.
“The firefighting went on through the night, with the stop at 6.29am this morning. Everyone from the two homes has been accounted for, and an investigation into what caused the fire is now underway.”
