A VIRTUAL quiz night in Westbury raised £170 for a charity working to eradicate poverty around the world.
West End Baptist Church’s annual Tearfund’s Big Quiz Night has been taking place since 2018, but due to current Covid restrictions, it was moved online.
Spokesperson Ivor Shears said, “The Tearfund Big Quiz was very much an experiment with technology for us this year.
“Thanks to my colleague Will, who hosted on Zoom, it went very well. We had nine teams in all, mainly couples or family groups.
“There were eight rounds of questions ranging from geography, popular music and general knowledge. The questions provoked good conversation and a few laughs between rounds.
“Numbers were a little disappointing but we managed to raise £170 for Tearfund through www.just giving. com/fundraising/ west endbaptistwestburyBA13.”
Ivor thanked everyone and said hopefully next year they would be able to physically meet together.
Tearfund is a Christian relief and development agency committed to eradicating poverty, working in over 50 countries around the world.

The charity’s ready-made quiz resources meant hosts had everything they needed to hold a quiz online, including questions suitable for all ages and teams, large or small. Tearfund’s global fundraising director, Jane Pleace said, “We are thankful that so many supporters continue to walk with us as we help some of the world’s most disadvantaged people.”
