A community hall that hosts local events is at risk of closure unless more volunteers come forward to keep it running.
Westbury Leigh Community Hall which holds monthly events such as bingo and tabletop sales as well as an annual summer fete and Christmas market, is also available to hire by local organisations. However, the hall, managed by volunteers from the Westbury Leigh Community Project, needs additional support to remain open.
“As current members will be resigning in April, we are in need of new blood to continue the work that we do,” said committee member Deb Guinnane. “If we don’t have sufficient members to run the hall, it may face closure. The hall is run for the benefit of the community.”
Volunteers are needed to help run events at the hall, and the project is also seeking new committee members to assist with its upkeep and management.
Adrian Bass, chairman of the Westbury Leigh Community Project, said, “We’re looking for more active volunteers. We just need more hands on deck.” He added that the group would also welcome more male volunteers to balance the composition of the group.
