A BITHAM Park resident is warning people to be vigilant after a number of garage break-ins in the area.
The local person, who does not wish to be named, says that a number of electrical items were stolen from their garage at the beginning of January and that the culprits have continued to raid other garages in the area.
The resident said, “In January my garage and others got broken into, not a good start to the year! A lot of tools were stolen. Police seemed a little reluctant and slow to investigate.
“Things are still being stolen in and around the area, the police have lost control. People need to be aware and keep things locked. They are not deterred by CCTV and are quite happy just to carry on because nothing seems to get done.”
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said, “We are investigating a burglary at a garage in Arundell Close, Westbury, which occurred sometime between 10pm on 6th January and 8am on 7th January.
“A number of handheld electric power tools were stolen including a Bosch sander, Bosch impact driver, Bosch grinder and a drill. As well as this, radio controllers, batteries and chargers were stolen.
“We are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard any suspicious activity in the area overnight. In particular, we would like to hear from anyone who saw a van in the area at around 4am. Call 101 and quote crime reference number 54190001861.”
