After a five year tenure, previous president David Jenkins convinced a new face to step in and take the reins.
Westbury Chamber of Commerce, Trade & Industry therefore elected Lucy Newmarch-Christensen to the role of president at the AGM which took place in June.
The rest of the year saw the chamber focusing on some housekeeping as they assessed what businesses want from their membership organisation.
The chamber is now something that local businesses want to join as there is an offer for everyone – whatever their business. Some people just want tax information, some want business guidance, some want to inject some creativity to their customer service. Others want to feel they are a part of a group who engages with the community, or just want to know what’s going on.
Westbury Chamber of Commerce, Trade & Industry offers all this and will be putting on a free event in early 2014 for anyone in business (or thinking of starting) to come along and pick their brains.
A few relaxed networking events have seen new businesses find the Westbury Chamber, who now have the largest pool of members it has had for a number of years. New faces include Calls in Confidence, Six Forward, Accounting 4 Business Solutions, White Horse Auto Styling, Dentons, CNA, Energy by Tessa, Albright & Shiny, and Perry Landscape Services.
President, Lucy Newmarch-Christensen said, “Of course the last few years have been tough for many businesses, but as we prepare for the upturn and confidence grows, Westbury is turning into a positive place to do business.
“There is talk of high value businesses wanting to work in the area – and the chamber is the body that many come to as a sounding board for their plans.”
