As I write this, we are in the midst of the Westbury Music and Arts Festival 2018.
As you know it’s a wonderful fortnight of choosing from the delights offered us to listen to, to join in with, to learn to do a whole variety of activities – and, if you are aged between 7 and 11, even to try out circus skills!
I guess that the creators of this Festival have made sure that we all have enjoyment to remember with pleasure now that it’s all over. It was a time to rejoice in diversity, and be grateful for a God who created us in so many varieties as to personality and as to skills which we find we have and choose to enhance.
We should not be surprised to find so much to wonder at and rejoice over when we think of the rich diversity of the natural world and the universe around us that God created. The Psalmist in the Bible’s Old Testament really let himself go in acknowledging who to recognise for all that is to be celebrated about human kind and the life we are given to enjoy.
Psalm 150 : Praise Him with the trumpet sound; Praise Him with lute and harp; Praise Him with tambourine and dance; Praise Him with strings and pipe; Praise Him with clanging cymbals; Praise Him with loud clashing cymbals! Let everything that breathes praise the Lord! Alleluia!
We too celebrated our Festival with Songs of Praise, in our case with the final event in the parish church, All Saints, led by Tidworth Methodist Fellowship Fijian Gospel Choir.
