WESTBURY and District Cricket Club travelled to play fellow strugglers Corsham in the latest West of England League Wiltshire Division hoping to break their winless run which stands at five matches.
Westbury opened with Richard Mills and James Mawson, and they made a bad start as Corsham struck by having James Mawson bowled by Callum Sandell for 11. Daniel Gill then came to the wicket, and they played confidently then suddenly Corsham struck when Gill took a risky run which resulted in Richard Mills being run out for 14 with the total at 32.
Dylan Hulett, the club’s leading run scorer, came to the wicket and shortly afterwards Westbury lost their third wicket when Gill was caught by Alfie Johnson for 12 with the score at 36. Aidan Wicks joined Dylan Hulett and put on a very good partnership of 63 to take the Westbury’s total to 99 when Wicks was out for 32 caught by Luke Curtis off the bowling off the impressive Corsham off-spinner Alfie Johnson.
Kane Scott, the Westbury wicketkeeper, then arrived at the crease and with Hulett took the total to 137 when Hulett was bowled for 40 off the bowling of Alex Christopher. With his dismissal the Westbury innings concluded with 182 for 9 wickets off their allotted 50 overs.

When Corsham batted they made a confident start of 31 when Westbury struck for the first time when Callum Sandell was bowled by the Westbury captain Richard Oakley for 15. Josh Stanley then joined Ed Vickery and they took the total to 54 when Faizal Faizey yorked Stanley for 13.
Ed Vickery then had the support of Luke Curtis, and they took the total to 142 when Vickery was brilliantly caught and bowled by Richard Mills for a well compiled 59 off 97 balls in 121 minutes. Shortly afterwards Ben de Costa was leg before wicket off the bowling of Richard Oakley for 0. Luke Curtis with the lower order took Corsham to a 5 wicket win with ten overs to spare.
Both Westbury and Corsham are now probably safe after Devizes devastating defeat by 254 runs against Swindon leaving them after the last game some 47 points from safety after having played one game more.
