Westbury & District Cricket Club hosted its annual Women’s Softball Festival on Sunday 17th August at the Frampton & Babel Oval, Leighton Sports Centre.
The festival welcomed eight teams from Wiltshire and Frome and brought together women and girls of all ages and experience levels for a day of softball cricket, music and fun.
“The festival is a relaxed, inclusive atmosphere that celebrates participation over competition,” said Hannah Dilena from the club. “The festival format is fast-paced, eight-a-side games using a softer ball, removing the need for traditional cricket gear. It is a great introduction to cricket to newer players as all players get to bat and bowl.
“The day is also a great fundraiser for the club, with money raised by a raffle. We would like to thank all the local businesses that donated some fantastic prizes to the raffle this year: Center Parcs, Gooding Accounts, Only Skin Deep, Twisted Brewery, Chantry Digital, Sporting Billy, Hair & Beauty Hub, Crockerton Furniture Centre, THG Labs and Somerset County Cricket Club.
“The Women’s section of the club is an important part of the club and its future, so it is great to be able to celebrate it with a successful festival. The club is always wanting to welcome new players to its women and girls’ section, so if you are interested, please contact us via our social media pages.”
