A New Year comes round again and the Westbury Family History Group are looking forward to a full and interesting programme of talks this year.
Lynne Vercoe, on behalf of the group reported, “To launch the 2015 programme on Thursday 22nd January we will be welcoming Elaine Kirby from the Kennet and Avon Canal Trust for a talk entitled ‘ Why Archive’.
“As all family historians know, archives are an essential tool in the quest to learn more about the lives of our forefathers. Elaine will explain the need for them and in particular the relevance of those held by the Kennet and Avon Canal Trust, also the type of things and subjects that are covered.
“We will learn where the information has come from and about the people who have donated items to the archive.
“The Westbury Family History Group meets every 4th Thursday of the month at 7.15pm in the foyer of the Westbury’s Methodist Church.
“The branch has regular interesting and informative talks and discussions by members and guest speakers on all aspects of family history and general history, why not come along and join us for an enjoyable evening, listening to professional presenters in some great company.”
