WESTBURY & District Cricket Club are in third place in the West of England Premier League – Wiltshire Division after a win and a loss in recent weeks.
At 184 points the team is just two points behind second placed Marlborough CC. League leaders Trowbridge are just ahead on 191 points.
Vs. Marlborough 1st XI
On Saturday 4th July Westbury visited second-place rivals Marlborough but lost out by 61 runs. The home side scored 201 for 8 (50 overs), while Westbury managed 140 for 10 in 37.1 overs.
Marlborough’s Arran Dickinson was the highest scoring batsman of the day with 52 runs, but was closely followed by Westbury’s Lydon Gibbons on 49 from 51 balls.
George Fox and Bradley Frost bowled three wickets each for the Westbury side.
Vs. Devizes 1st XI
On Saturday 11th July Westbury & District won on home soil, beating Devizes by a huge 147 runs. Westbury scored 216 for 6 (50 overs), followed by Devizes’ lacklustre 69 for 10 in 27.3 overs.
The home side’s batsmen showed consistent form, with Richard Mills scoring highest at 49 runs, and strong performances from Jared McDonald (24 runs), Dan Gill (36), Ben Whiting (39) and Tom Lucas (30).
John Dunford took 3 wickets, and Archie Easton, Tom Grant and Tom Pike took one each.
Westbury’s next premier league fixture will be against Purton 1st XI on Saturday 18th July.
