Westbury is ready to dazzle this Saturday, 7th December, as the town hosts its annual Christmas lights switch-on event, promising an unforgettable day of festive fun and community spirit.
The heart of the town will come alive with music, markets and merriment with entertainment from 1pm to 7pm in the Market Place, High Street, Maristow Street and All Saints’ Church.
“The event promises an afternoon and evening of holiday cheer, live entertainment, and community spirit,” said Ryan Child, events manager at Westbury Town Council, which are organising the celebrations.
“The festivities will feature performances by local favourites Brakelight and the lively Gin Bowlers, who will fill the Market Place with festive tunes and energy before and after the lights are switched on.
“Adding star power to the evening is Harry James, a Dilton Marsh native who recently performed on The Voice. Father Christmas will be bringing his own star power from 3.30pm to 5pm in the Market Place.
“Visitors can also enjoy the Christmas Market along the High Street, brimming with unique gifts, crafts, and seasonal treats. The funfair on Edward Street will keep the kids busy and an array of food and drink stalls will ensure there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
“Adding to the magical atmosphere, local choirs will perform live, spreading holiday cheer with classic carols.
“The highlight of the evening will be the grand moment when the Christmas lights are switched on around 5.30pm. Make sure to wrap up warm as we celebrate the season together in the crisp wintry weather!
“This free event is a perfect way to kick off the holiday season with family and friends. We look forward to celebrating with you!”
