WESTBURY Golf Club have been awarded The R&A Women In Golf Charter by the R&A and supported by England Golf, and are offering a free golf taster session for girls and ladies on Saturday 3rd July.
The club report, “The Charter, which was launched in May 2018, shows the clubs continuing focus on encouraging more women and girls to play the game, as well as their work inspiring more families to enjoy golf as a leisure activity.”
The popular club, located between Westbury and Trowbridge, has always had an open-door policy when it comes to newcomers taking up the game. The 9-hole course, set in mature parkland at the foot of the famous White Horse, is ideally suited to all levels of golfer and provides a picturesque and very achievable experience for visitors.
Talking of the recognition, Bob Rawlings, Westbury Golf Club Committee member, says, “We’re delighted to have been recognised by the R&A and England Golf in receiving this charter – two prestigious organisations at the very heart of the golf industry. We’ve always worked very hard at the club to reduce the perceived barriers to entry that golf can have.
“We want to foster engagement in the sport for everyone, and we’re thrilled that our work in encouraging females to try the game has been recognised in this way.”
The club are celebrating their new-found award by offering girls and ladies a free golf taster session between 9am and 12pm on Saturday 3rd July. This will give participants the opportunity to try the game, either on the golf range and/or on the golf course.
