Westbury Lions Club has set a new fundraising record with their 2024 Santa Float campaign, raising an impressive £8,500 for local causes.
The Santa Float travelled over 70km throughout December, spreading holiday cheer across Westbury, Heywood, Hawkeridge and, by special invitation, Dilton Marsh. Club volunteers walked alongside the float, knocking on doors to invite families to join in the festive fun.
“This is a phenomenal amount that has been raised and we would very much like to extend our thanks to the communities of Westbury and Dilton Marsh for supporting us so enthusiastically this year,” said club president Heather Blackley.
“Throughout the month we received a very warm welcome from families and Santa was very happy to receive over 130 letters from children too! We will be working with local groups and schools in the coming months to distribute this money back into the community and look forward to making a difference for many people in the area as we move into 2025.”
Special thanks were extended to Graham Jones and the team at Platinum KGM in Frome for providing the tow vehicle, as well as to Morrisons and One Stop for donating sweets, helping to reduce the campaign’s running costs. Club admin chairman Nigel Coward also praised the dedication of the volunteers who braved December’s chill to make this year’s float the most successful yet.
