MEMBERS of the Westbury Lions Club have praised the generosity of local people after they were inundated with supplies during their collection for Ukraine on Sunday 6th March.
Lions’ members also managed to raise over £800 to financially aid those affected by the war in Ukraine, during their collection outside the library from 10am to 2pm.
Westbury Lions’ President, Tracey Sheppard said, “We were overwhelmed with the very generous contributions that the awesome people of Westbury donated! We also collected £811.25 in monetary donations which is staggering in four hours; the community of Westbury have been fantastic.
“Thank you to Daykin Estates for letting us drop a van full of donations off to them.”
Westbury Lions Club was collecting items such as toiletries, batteries, camping stoves and medicine which were then collected by Daykin Estates to be added to the larger collection organised by Active Trowbridge.
Tracey added, “The Lions will be outside Morrisons on the 24th and 27th of March and the 30th of April collecting money alongside the Westbury Rotary Club. We are trying to organise a monthly collection thereafter as this is not going away anytime soon. Again, thank you to everybody of Westbury for your kindness.”
