WESTBURY’S men’s shed project is gathering steam but is on the lookout for more local people to get involved.
The shed group was formed following an initial meeting last month, and is now looking to recruit members with practical interests.
The shed will be a place where men can share tools, advice, and materials to work on projects of their choosing.
Westbury resident Dan Gmaj has taken on the role of club chairman.
Dan said, “Thank you to Liam Cripps for his assistance in the launch of Westbury Shed, and to the local organisations who are excited enough about the project to offer sponsorship and other funding streams already. However, the key to a successful shed is all about the people!
“We already have a dozen local folk who have registered their interest in the project, and although ‘Westbury Shed’ will not be gender or age specific, primarily the ‘UK Men’s shed network’ is targeted at men aged 55 and above.
“We need to have a registered interest from around 50 people to enable the next stage and welcome you all to our temporary home in the Leigh Park Community Centre at a regular weekly time slot.
“At this stage we just want to hear from people who think it sounds like a good idea or something they might want to get involved with.
“We have no expectation or demands to make on the fine folk of Westbury who register interest, so if that might be you, please get an email to me at westburyshed@gmail.com
“Westbury Shed will be unique and tailored to the ideas and projects that will come from its members.”
