Westbury Swimming Club is a thriving town club, and has been for well over 100 years.
Currently, junior and intermediate squad swimmers are perfecting their skills under the guidance of top coach and former international swimmer, John Dougall.
John is a very experienced coach who has coached British record holders and paralympians, and is currently head coach at top regional swimming squad, Aqua Sulis. He has stepped in to support a dedicated coaching team at Westbury, all of whom are volunteers.
At the recent club presentation evening, many of the club’s young swimmers received numerous medals and trophies, not just for club championship races, but also as rewards for perseverance, attendance and overall improvement.
Sisters Chloe and Hannah Meaden (aged 10 and 14) won the John Sims and Edward Griffin cups, in recognition of all their hard work. These impressive cups were both donated by local families and are given out to different swimmers each year.
Westbury is a very friendly club, and always welcomes new swimmers, both to its learn to swim lessons and to the competitive swimming squads for those who wish to take their swimming to the next level. They offer an introductory offer of three sessions for £5, so that young swimmers can try out what the club has to offer.
