A young swimmer from the Westbury Amateur Swimming Club has been selected for the Wiltshire team in the Inter County National Championships.
Roan Watkin, 13, is among 28 swimmers from the county to be selected for this prestigious event, which takes place on the 5th October at Ponds Forge, Sheffield. His selection follows his win in the 50m breaststroke at the South West Regional Championships.
“We are so proud of Roan and his achievements in swimming, he trains incredibly hard and is always pushing himself to improve and learn,” said his mum, Jenny. “This next step of representing the county at a national event is something he has aspired to for the last four years.
“A huge thank you to the team at Westbury Swimming Club for their support, expertise and encouragement in his swimming journey.”
Roan, a student at Matravers School and a former pupil at Bitham Brook Primary School, trains at Westbury Pool with the Westbury Amateur Swimming Club.
“The club are incredibly proud of Roan’s achievements and are looking forward to supporting him at the event,” said the club.
“We promote swimming for all ages and skill levels, focusing on enjoyment, competition, and social events. The club provides a supportive environment for swimmers to grow and succeed.”
