A feature film is being filmed in various locations in Westbury, with actors Martin Clunes and James Buckley coming to the town to shoot scenes at the White Horse and other sites around the area.
The film, Mother’s Pride, is a comedy-drama about a failing pub, a divided community, and a grieving family whose lives are changed by brewing real ale and entering the Great British Beer Awards.
Residents were thrilled when the actors were recently spotted filming in the town, with more scenes expected to be shot in the coming months.
Westbury resident Barbara Swan had an unexpected encounter with Martin Clunes while visiting the White Horse with her brother, Alan. “My brother Alan and I are photographers, and we went to the Westbury White Horse to photograph paragliders, but were distracted when we saw the parking area cordoned off,” Barbara explained.
“We then noticed a film make-up and wardrobe truck, so we waited and spotted Martin Clunes about to leave. We asked for a quick photo, thanked him, and after being photographed by someone else, he dashed off.”
Martin Clunes is known for his role in the long-running television series Doc Martin and has appeared in films including Shakespeare in Love and Nativity 3. James Buckley is known for his role as Jay Cartwright in The Inbetweeners.
