FIRST Great Western colleagues from Westbury traincrew depot and station recently held their first family funday.
Entertainment included cream teas and cakes, ‘splat the rat’, tombola and raffles, skittles, and the opportunity to throw sponges in the managers’ faces.
The fair, held on Saturday 9th August, raised £1,465 for Macmillan Cancer Support. This amount will be matched by the First Great Western Group, doubling the employees’ fundraising effort to £2,930.
Driver manager Sally Wiltshire said, “It was a really great day. The event was all about bringing colleagues together, having fun and raising money for charity.
“We chose to donate to Macmillan because many of our colleagues’ families have been directly or indirectly affected by cancer. It is also First Great Western’s chosen charity for 2014.
“The old station manager’s house in Westbury was the perfect location, and we had massive support from local businesses in Westbury, Warminster, Trowbridge, and Bath.
“We would definitely like to repeat the event next year and get more involved with local businesses.”
